THE CERT TEAM . . .
The CERT team (Community Emergency Response Team) was formed after several people completed a series of classes designed to teach skills in first aid, safety procedures, incident assistance, and other venues that would help the Fire Dept. and the community in an emergency. CERTs may be helping in the office or other non-hazardous tasks. They try to see if they can find new ways to assist the Fire Dept. and to inform the public about what is going on. This group may be called upon to assist in a non-hazardous way during an emergency. Ongoing classes and training are held as often as time allows.
HIGHWAY 77 CLEANUP – Starting in 2011, the Oracle Firewise Board and CERT team have opted to do the ADOT Adopt a Highway between Mile Marker 101 and 102. Our second cleanup was April 30. A sign is now up for our part of the highway. Click HERE to see some images of the event.
Our next cleanup is Saturday, Sept. 17th. Let us know if you are interested in joining us by contacting the station.
FIRST RESPONDERS – (June 2010)
We had several CERTs graduate from their First Responder Class given at the OFD firehouse. This greatly expands the capabilities of the CERT team. Congratulations to: Charlene Tipps, Kevin Armbrust, Judy Sparkman, Doug Johnson, Jason Weiss, Rachel Opinsky, Charlotte Poole, and Joyce McRae.
